Anything inspiring just encourages me further away from what I’m doing

All teachings in the contemporary English culture are limited by contemporary English culture to certain extent. So you learn different languages, you read something from the Ancient Greeks, you read something from Confucius, something from Buddhism, something from a different era and society. Or rather, you don't care because you've understood the unchanged within the ever-changing. So you create something new yourself.
I’m too easily drawn to metaphysical, epistemological, or psychological thoughts to focus on a rather recent, shallow and short-sighted social history and reality. If the foundational structure has something flawed, things built on it will eventually collapse. So is it flawed? Is there alternatives? That’s what I’m interested in, instead of something mechanical and dull and becoming a part of the system. The longer I work on these courses, the stronger I feel wasting my time.
